About

The store front of Laiti Jewelers.

Laiti Jewlers

Laiti Jewelers has been a fixture in the Houghton/Hancock area for years. In the early 1980's, Bob Butke bought the store from the Laiti family. In 1994, his son Mark took over the family store, moving it from downtown Hancock to the Copper Country Mall in Houghton where it stayed for 19 years. In 2010, a dream of Mark's was realized when he was able to move the store to Downtown Houghton, basing the remodeling on the design of the store his father had worked at in Traverse City when Mark was growing up.

Meet the Team

Mark

Mark

Mark is a fourth generation jeweler. Growing up in a jewelry store and seeing how everything was made drove him to want to have his chance at the bench. Starting with gold work and clock repair in high school, he furthered his education by going to college for gold work and eventually took over the family store.

Mark is trained in gold work, clock repair, diamonds, gemstones, and the most current forms of jewelry repair. He loves working with people and is always willing to teach them about diamonds and gemstones. He loves a challenge, especially working on impossible repair jobs, creating one of a kind pieces, and of course, making the store bigger and better

Kathy

Kathy grew up here in Houghton, and has been working for Laiti Jewelers since 2003. Her favorite stones are blue zircon, morganite, and of course, diamonds (especially colored diamonds). Kathy can help you find an exceptional piece of jewelry for that special person.

Catherine

Catherine

Catherine also grew up in Houghton, and has been working for Laiti Jewelers since 2010. She has enjoyed learning about diamonds and gemstones (especially color changing alexandrite). In addition to assisting customers, Catherine also does the engraving.
